When Jacob's called about playing a Lucha Libre character for their new Lime & Chilli Mini Cheddars, I nearly dropped my phone. Me, a Colombian actor, getting to channel the electric energy of Mexican wrestling for one of Britain's most beloved snacks? Mad!
Picture the scene: there I was, squeezed into a proper Lucha Libre outfit (thank goodness for stretchy fabric), dramatically grappling with a giant Mini Cheddar while shouting "Bring the zing!" in my most theatrical voice. The director kept asking for more energy - mate, try being energetic when you're sweating buckets in a wrestling mask! But I'll tell you what kept me going - sneaking those Mini Cheddars between takes.
Honestly, these aren't your average cheese biscuits. They've proper nailed that lime and chilli combo. It's like someone took the classic Mini Cheddars we all grew up with and gave them a proper flavour kick up the backside. The crew couldn't stop munching them either - we went through about six packets during the costume fitting alone!
You know what though? Sometimes the most random jobs turn out to be the most fun. There I was, a Colombian bloke in a Mexican wrestling mask, flogging British cheese biscuits - and somehow it just worked. Even managed to keep the mask as a souvenir, though I've been banned from wearing it at family dinners.
P.S. - If you spot someone in Tesco doing dramatic poses in the snack aisle, that's probably me. Old habits die hard!
